Beers: Serving from five hand pumps you will expect to find beers from our island Brewery – Randalls and a selection from Marston’s, Jennings, Banks’s, Wychwood, Ringwood, Brakspear, Thwaites and Black Sheep. Others make an appearance too!  Order a polypin for Christmas from the Ringwood range of beers.

Ciders: Local ciders from The Rocquette Cider Company.  Westons and Thatchers available all year round.

Draught Lagers: Breda (brewed in Guernsey), Liberation Blonde (brewed in Channel Islands), Carling, and Staropramen (Prague).

Bottled Lagers:  Corona, Budweiser, Peroni and Becks Blue (non-alcoholic)

Stouts: Guinness on draught.

IPA: Wolf Red IPA

Wines/champagne: A selection of wines are on offer by the bottle.  Prosecco, cava or champagne for that special occasion.

Mulled wine:  Available on those chilly winter evenings.

 

DECEMBER BEER TASTING NOTES

Cock and Bull’s Hauteville Fairy – 4.2% ABV Wolverhampton

Refreshing beer brewed especially for us. Glorious rich gooseberry and zesty grapefruit flavours, overlaying a hoppy, sweet malt base. This beer is named after No. 20 Hauteville, the house where Juliette Drouet, mistress and travelling companion to Victor Hugo lived; a few doors up from the Cock and Bull.

Liberation Christmas Ale – 4.8% ABV

Easy drinking dark beer brewed in the Channel Islands.  Not overly spicy but imitates the flavours of a Christmas pudding with a light bitter finish.

Brakespear Oxford Gold – 4% ABV

A remarkable zesty brew, with fresh, citrus aromas and a firm fruity flavour.

Butcombe Original Beer – 4% ABV

A classic session beer with a peppery character.  Made with only the best Maris Otter malt blended with a variety of English hops. Clean and refreshingly dry flavour.

Jennings Cumberland – 4.2% ABV Cumbria

A superb golden ale, brewed with malt made from specially selected Maris Otter barley and using only the fines English aromatic hops.

Jennings Cockerhoop 4.6% ABV

A zingy, straw coloured ale from an all malt brew.  Late hopped with zesty Styrian Goldings giving it a wonderful citrus and floral aroma.

Jennings Pie in the Sky – 4.1% ABV

A robust and full bodied beer.  Brewed fro the month of November.

Ringwood Fortyniner – 4.9% ABV

Pale brown in colour. A malty and fruity aroma leads to a well-balanced taste of malt and hops. Fruity finish.

Ringwood Porter XXXX  – 4.7% ABV

This delicious porter has finally arrived.  Smoothly crafted, ruby beer with a smoky finish.

Marston’s Pedigree – 4.5% ABV

Brewed with the legendary Burton water. Palate of biscuit malt, spicy hops and light fruitiness.

Marstons Saddle Tank – 3.8% ABV

Clean, bright and full flavoured.  Malty, biscuit taste throughout.  A balanced everyday beer.

Portobello Brewing Co Market Porter – 4.6% ABV London

This rich and velvety porter will not disappoint. First time at The Cock and Bull.

Wychwood Hobgoblin – 4.5% ABV

A powerful, full-bodied, copper-red, well balanced brew. Strong in roasted malt with a moderate bitterness and a slight fruity character.

Wychwood Hobgoblin Gold – 4.2% ABV

The combination of four hop varieties and an infusion of wheat and malted barley has resulted in the perfect golden beer with a huge hop punch.

Thwaites Good Elf – 4.9% ABV

Flavours of clove, orange, ginger and cinnamon.  A sweeter ale reminiscent of a good old Christmas pudding. Not overly bitter.

Thwaites Wainwright Fusion 4 – 4% ABV Lancashire

A new Autumn beer.  Complex citrus, herbal and tropical flavours from a quartet of cutting edge hops.

Thwaites Wainwright – 4.1% ABV

Unusually refreshing golden ale.  Named in honour of the famous fell walker, author and Lancastrian Alfred Wainwright.

Thwaites Original – 3.6% ABV

Glowing amber, clean-dry bitter.

Shipyard Island Time IPA 4.5% ABV

A session IPA built with variety of US hops giving a grapefruit, pine nose and spicy hop finish.
