Beers/cider/real ales

Beers: Serving from five hand pumps you will expect to find beers from our island Brewery – Randalls and a selection from Marston’s, Jennings, Banks’s, Wychwood, Ringwood, Brakspear, Thwaites, Youngs and Black Sheep. Others make an appearance too! Buy a cask ale from us for your party.

Ciders: Local ciders from The Rocquette Cider Company.  Westons and Thatchers available all year round. Still cider available in the Summer time.

Draught Lagers: locally brewed by Randalls 1868 is only 2% ABV.  Breda (brewed in Guernsey), Liberation Blonde (brewed in Channel Islands), Carling, and Staropramen (Prague).

Bottled Lagers:  Corona, Budweiser, Peroni and Becks Blue (non-alcoholic)

Stouts: Guinness on draught.

IPA: Wolf Red IPA

Wines/champagne: A selection of wines are on offer by the bottle.  Prosecco, cava or champagne for that special occasion.  House wine available by the glass 175ml/250ml

Spirits:  A large choice of Gins including two locally distilled( Wheadons & Blue Bottle) are on offer, plus a variety of whiskies, rums and liqueurs.

 

JUNE BEER TASTING NOTES

Cock and Bull’s Hauteville Fairy – 4.2% ABV Wolverhampton
Refreshing beer brewed especially for us. glorious rich gooseberry and zesty grapefruit flavours, overlaying a hoppy, sweet malt base. this beer is named after No. 20 Hauteville, the house where Juliette Drouet, mistress and travelling companion to Victor Hugo lived; a few doors up from the Cock and Bull.

Randall’s Patois – 4.5% ABV Guernsey
Patois is a bright chestnut brown best bitter brewed to 4.5% ABV.  Restrained malt tones are balanced with a subtle but complex hop aroma.  3 varieties of hop imbue Patois with floral and citrus notes.  The finish is clean and dry with a moreish bitterness.

Ringwood Razorback – 3.8% ABV Ringwood, Hampshire
Well balanced golden brown beer. Malty and hoppy aroma leads through to a malty taste with some sweetness. Malty and bitter finish, with some fruit present. Delicious and refreshing.

Ringwood Fortyniner – 4.9% ABV
Pale brown in colour. Malty and fruity aroma leads to a well-balanced taste of malt and hops. Fruity finish.

Mansfield Bitter – 3.9% ABV
A clean, lightly fruity beer with a subtle bitterness.  Amber coloured with a satisfying hoppy aftertaste.

Courage Directors – 4.8% ABV
Full bodied, with a clean, bitter taste, balanced with a sweet burnt, malty and fruity notes with a distinctive dry-hop aroma and flavour.

Wychwood Hobgoblin – 4.5%Witney, Oxfordshire
A powerful, full bodied, copper-red, well balanced brew. Strong in roasted malt with a moderate bitterness and a slight fruity character.

Wychwood Hobgoblin Gold – 4.2% ABV
A combination of four hop varieties and an infusion of wheat and malted barley has resulted in the perfect golden beer with a huge hop punch.

Marston’s Pedigree – 4.5% ABV Wolverhampton
Brewed with the legendary Burton water. Palate of biscuit malt, spicy hops and light fruitiness.

Marston’s Saddle Tank – 3.8% ABV
Clean, bright and full flavoured brew. Malty biscuit taste throughout. A balanced everyday beer.

Thwaites Wainwright Golden – 4.1% ABV Lancashire
Unusually refreshing golden ale. Named in honour of the famous fell walker, author and Lancastrian Alfred Wainwright.

Thwaites Original Bitter – 3.6% ABV
Dark amber, light malty aroma.  Mild, clean dry tasting and refreshing session bitter with a glowing amber appearance.  Brewed using premium grade Maris Otter malt and a blend of traditional English Hops including Goldings & Fuggles to give a malty flavoured beer.

Jennings Cockerhoop – 4.6% ABV Cockermouth, Cumbria
A zingy, straw coloured ale from an all malt brew.  Late hopped with zesty Styrian Goldings giving it a wonderful citrus and floral aroma.

Jennings Cumberland Ale – 4% ABV
A carefully balanced hop character, combined with residual flavours from the malt.

Youngs London Gold – 4.8%  ABV South East London
Inspired by hops grown at Kew Botanical gardens.  This is light, golden and full flavoured with a refreshing bite.

Youngs Special – 4.5% ABV
A full flavoured amber ale with the perfect balance of nutty malt and earthy hops.

Thwaites Lancaster Bomber – 4.4% ABV Wolverhampton
Full bodied amber beer with malty aroma.

Charles Wells Bombardier – 4.1% ABV
Traditional style, amber bitter with caramel flavours and aroma.  Bitter sweet finish.
